---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Michael Farris, founder of Home School Legal Defense Association and President of Patrick Henry College, will be a featured speaker at the Summit Home School Session, September 1-13, 2002, in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Dr. David Noebel, President of Summit Ministries, is offering this special session for home educated high school and college students and their parents. The two-week course includes Old and New Testament survey, defense of creation vs. evolution, Christian leadership principles, cultural crisis in Generation X, America's Christian heritage, and Biblical ethics: abortion, homosexuality, and drugs. The faculty assisting Dr. Noebel consists of outstanding Christian scholars from universities throughout the country. Since 1962, the Summit has pioneered training in Biblical worldviews as preparation for the college challenges of socialism, evolution, liberalism, ethical relativism, and the various forms of humanism: Marxist, New Age, secular, and postmodern. A component in Islamic worldview in relation to these topics will also be explored. Because this session is designed for a smaller group, Dr. Noebel is providing complimentary accommodations for parents who wish to audit the course. Meal tickets may be purchased at a reasonable cost. The Summit piloted a September session in 2000. Forty-five home educated students from across the United States, Canada, and China attended. Although the 2000 session was a huge success, insufficient enrollment necessitated canceling it in 2001. A minimum of 75 students is needed for the 2002 session to be held. Please contact Summit Ministries before July 5, 2002, if you are interested in attending. High school parents should seriously consider this opportunity. The student tuition of $625 may be paid throughout the summer, including a deposit to reserve a space. Partial scholarships are also available. For further information, call Jen at Summit Ministries, 719-685-9103 or visit www.summit.org. We hope you will take advantage of this excellent educational opportunity. Sincerely yours, J.
