---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- May 21, 2002 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Yesterday's education committee hearing for Bill 14-261 was cancelled on short notice. A staff member for Councilmember Chavous said the reason for the cancellation was that one of Chavous' witnesses could not attend. The staff member also informed me that the hearing would be rescheduled within the next two weeks or so. Many thanks to those of you who were planning to attend the education committee hearing or showed up yesterday and discovered that it was cancelled. We will let you know when we have a new hearing date. We sincerely appreciate your efforts to assist us in defeating this mandatory preschool initiative. Your help will make a difference!
