---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- April 17, 2002 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, The Missouri House of Representatives voted yesterday to pass House Bill 1460. This dangerous expansion of the compulsory attendance age, now goes to the Senate for consideration. The Senate Education Committee has already passed an identical bill, S.B. 858. As of today (04/17/02), neither bill has been scheduled for action by the Senate. ACTION REQUESTED The Senate needs to hear from its constituents regarding these bills and the detrimental effects they would have on parental rights. Please call your senator and give him this message, "Please oppose H.B. 1460 and S.B. 858. They take away a parent's freedom to decide what is best for their 16 year old. They will force disruptive young adults back in to a classroom where they do not want to be, making it harder for students who truly do want to learn." Remember to be courteous. Call the Missouri Senate at (573) 751-3824 and ask to be connected to your senator.
