defeat two bills that could have seriously hindered home school

5. Michigan District Harasses Home Schoolers

In early March, a member family in the Minot area alerted Home School
Legal Defense Association to an attempt by the Department of Public
Instruction to circumvent the new federal law exempting home
schoolers from taking state assessment tests.

6. New York Family's Tardy Notification Instigates Social Service
Investigation

Even though the concern was merely over missing paperwork, a social
worker insisted on launching a full-scale investigation on one Bronx
home schooling family.
