Afghan Children's Fund Update In a ceremony held on February 15, 2002, HSLDA's Mike Farris symbolically handed the letters over to President Bush through Tim Goeglein, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Liaison. Home Schoolers Eligible for SEEP Participation Thanks to a member family's notifying Home School Legal Defense Association, home schooled students now have the opportunity to participate in a work-study program from which they were previously excluded due to a misinterpretation of the law. Wellston Ohio Schools Continue to Push the Limits of State Law The Wellston City School District in Ohio continues to disregard the home school regulations of the Ohio Administrative Code. After releasing a new home school policy recently that violates the state regulations in several ways, the district received numerous contacts from concerned home schoolers. NCAA Clarifies Policy on Religious Courses After a home school graduate was denied eligibility to play soccer at college, Home School Legal Defense Association called the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to investigate. The student, now enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, believed she was denied eligibility because of the religious content of some of her high school work.
