---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- February 20, 2002 Dear Vermont Members and Friends, Your assistance is requested in a pending hearing before the Vermont Department of Education, the outcome of which will have an effect on all home schoolers in your state. A member family submitted "independent professional evidence on whether the child is handicapped" that did not include all of the information the VDE requests on its Form B. We do not believe that the statute requires parents to submit that additional information. If you are willing to help, please fax the following to 540-338-1952 on or before 2/25/02: 1) Copies of the "independent professional evidence on whether the child is handicapped" that you have submitted anytime during the last three school years. 2) Copies of any correspondence from VDE for the same school years indicating that your enrollment is either complete or incomplete, including any attached checklists. 3) Any other correspondence from the VDE regarding the "independent professional evidence." If you have any questions, please call Jim Mason, Litigation Counsel, or Darren Jones, Counsel, at 540-338-5600. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
