---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- January 25, 2002 Dear New Hampshire Members and Friends, We are pleased to announce that H.B. 1408 is now obsolete, having failed to pass the House yesterday, January 24. The bill would have given undue power to city, state, and town leaders to enact their own truancy laws, adversely affecting the liberties of home school families across the state of New Hampshire. New Hampshire's motto is "Live Free or Die," and, once again, New Hampshire's home schoolers proved themselves worthy of that motto. The vote was well attended by home schoolers, which probably contributed to H.B. 1408's defeat. I would like to thank New Hampshire State Representative Dan Itse for informing Home School Legal Defense Association about this vote. Sincerely yours, Scott A.
