HSLDA Visits Office of National Center for Education Statistics
WASHINGTON D.C.HSLDA made an important visit to the National Center for Education Statistics (the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) test-development center) to discuss the controversial test.
Along with several other representatives from pro-family organizations, Caleb Kershner, National Center for Home Education Manager of Federal Policy and Research, participated in a briefing the officials at NCES who write and develop the National Assessment of Education Progress Test (NAEP). Each representative was able to ask many questions about NAEP, its development, and the threat it could be as a national test. They also reviewed each NAEP test currently being administered around the country, including civics, math, reading, and science. Before reviewing the tests, each member of the group was required to sign a statement that they would not discuss the test questions publicly.
HSLDA opposes the expansion of NAEP and believes that this test should be restored to its original size and scope.
