He served eight years as the Attorney General of Missouri, two terms as governor of Missouri, and a term in the United States Senate, where he chaired the Constitution Subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee.

In fact, John Ashcroft is far more qualified to hold the post that the current Attorney General. "The attack on John Ashcroft by some of his former Senate colleagues, who know he is a man of integrity, has been base and ugly, and is not worthy of United States Senators," said Michael Farris, Chairman and General Counsel for the Home School Legal Defense Association.
