Candidates Bush, Forbes, Bauer, Smith and Buchanan to join national policy leaders at Proclaim Liberty HSLDA's Conference and Rally at the Capitol, Sept. 23-24

WASHINGTON, D.C.Gov. George W. Bush, along with other candidates for the Republican nomination to the presidency, will join the Home School Legal Defense Association and home schooling families for HSLDAs Proclaim Liberty Conference at the capital on Friday, September 24, 1999.
All presidential candidates from both parties were invited to the conference. Besides Bush, Gary Bauer, Steve Forbes, Pat Buchanan and Senator Bob Smith have confirmed their participation in Proclaim Liberty.
The site of the conference is the Daughters of the American Revolutions Constitutional Hall, 1776 D Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. The program will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Conference speakers include Majority Leader Dick Armey; Congressmen Steve Largent and David McIntosh; Beverly LaHaye, president of Concerned Women for America; Paul Weyrich, president of Free Congress Foundation; Randy Tate, executive director of Christian Coalition; Dr. John Lenczowski, president of the Institute for World Politics; Bob Jones IV, national editor of World magazine; John Fund, of The Wall Street Journal editorial board; Dr. Phillip Johnson, professor of law, University of California; William Parker, president of Crosswalk.com; and Michael Farris, president of HSLDA.
On Thursday, Sept. 23, the day before this fast-paced program, home schoolers attending the conference will hold a rally on the west front steps of the Capitol from noon to 1 p.m. From 1:30 to 4 p.m., families will tour Capitol Hill and visit their senators and representatives.
On Saturday, attendees will be able to choose one of several activities, including a one mile or 5K Proclaim Liberty run, a briefing and tour of Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia, and a variety of Washington, D.C., area tours.
