WHAT: The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia will hear oral arguments on whether U.S. Army Spc. Michael New was lawfully ordered to become a UN soldier by adding UN items to his US Army uniform. In August of 1995 Michael New was ordered to wear the U.N. uniform and fight under foreign command. New refused to follow this order because he knew that it was illegal for President Clinton to order him to serve under a foreign power. Michael Farris, News lead attorney, will answer questions immediately following the oral arguments on Friday. Michael New will be in attendance.
WHO: Spc. Michael New U.S. Army and Michael Farris, Esq.
WHERE: On the steps outside of the Court of Appeals, 333 Constitution Ave., N.W.
WHEN: Oral arguments are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. This case is first on the docket. Arguments should conclude at approximately 10 a.m. Seating is expected to be at a premium.
