HSLDA Applauds Financial Capability Challenge Winners

Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of the Treasury launched its 2010 National Financial Capability Challenge. This challenge included 35 questions on basic personal finance that students between the ages of 13–19 had an hour to complete; 76,892 students from public, private, and home schools across the nation participated.

The Department of the Treasury recently released the scores of the students who took this Challenge. The national average score was 70 percent. The Department also released the names of students who signed release forms and scored in the top 20th percentile. Among these students, 148 indicated that they were homeschooled.

These top students will receive official award certificates and will be eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship that Charles Schwab Foundation will give to 20 students.
