TV Indecency Affects Us All

From time to time Home School Legal Defense Association reports on developments in the culture which impact homeschoolers.

Pro-family groups from around the country are banding together to remind U.S. Senators that America's families want to have clean airwaves for their children to enjoy. Even if television does not feature prominently in your home, it does in the homes of others, and everyone has to contend with the consequences of the choices that other people make.

In order, to maintain some restraints on the actions of TV executives, pro-family groups have been lobbying Congress to increase the fines that the Federal Communications Commission can impose on broadcast indecency.

The U.S. House has already passed Congressman Upton's Broadcasting Indecency Enforcement Act of 2005, H.R. 310, but it is stalled in the Senate.

HSLDA recognizes that this is not strictly a homeschool issue but, if you should choose to do so, please take a moment to call the Senate and urge them to pass this important bill for America's families.

Please use our Legislative Toolbox to find the contact information for your Senator.
