Issue Description Issue Background H.R. 2300 passed the House floor, but there was not enough time remaining in the 106th congressional term for a presentation and vote on the Senate floor. At the end of the 106th congress (1999-2000), H.R. 2300 died. A new bill introduced to the House and Senate in the 107th congress would be required in order for Straight A's to become law. It was mentioned as part of President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act (Public Law 107-110), but not included in the final language when passed and agreed to by the Senate in 2001. Despite this, HSLDA continues to work on the behalf of home educators to protect their right to homeschool and decrease the federal role in education.
