Issue Description

Homeschoolers participating in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I and Division II college-level sports.

Issue History

As the homeschooling movement started to mature, more homeschoolers desired to play on college athletic teams. The NCAA eligibility standards, however, included requirements that made it difficult for homeschoolers to qualify. Recognizing this problem, HSLDA worked with the NCAA to create specific guidelines for homeschool eligibility. Since these guidelines have been in place, approximately 100 homeschooled students a year have been able to complete the eligibility process and play on NCAA teams. HSLDA has also been in touch with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics regarding eligibility guidelines for homeschoolers.
