Mental Health Screening

Issue Summary

President Bush's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health reported findings in June 2003 that call for a universal mental-health screening program to be implemented through school systems and primary care facilities. Pro-liberty groups are concerned that funding provided by Congress would allow states to start universal mental health screenings that do not require parental permission.
