Government Homeschool Proclamations - Federal

Issue Description
A federal Home School Day (or Week) Proclamation is an effective way to put home schooling in the public eye and present it in a positive light. There are many positive results that follow such a proclamation. A few such results include receiving a public declaration from a legislative body or executive head that declares homeschooling "legitimate, legal, successful," and oftentimes "historical". Such a declaration gives HSLDA leverage with both the legislature and the courts. Proclamations also provides an ideal backdrop for HSLDA and state home school associations to organize a rally and lobbying day at US capitol in order to positively influence federal legislators.

Issue Background
In the past home school associations, from states that still question the legitimacy of homeschooling, have secured a proclamation from the governor and then used it in dealing with local school officials, legislators, and others to help convince them that home schooling is legal and working successfully.
