HOME SCHOOL FAMILIES
GATHER IN OHIO
Washington, DC - Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) Staff Attorney Scott Somerville will be in Columbus, June 26-28, for the 19th Annual Christian Home Educators of Ohio (CHEO) Convention. Somerville will be addressing families from around the state on several subjects including "The History and Future of Home Education" and "What Wives Wish Their Husbands Knew About Homeschooling." Approximately 4000 homeschoolers are expected to attend the conference.
HSLDA entered into its 20th Anniversary year this spring and has been at the forefront of the modern homeschool movement. "Fighting for a parents' right to homeschool has been our mission for 20 years," said Somerville.
Homeschooling is entering the mainstream and this is in large part due to the efforts of the HSLDA legal team.
"Homeschool graduates are succeeding in all walks of life and consequently many more families are gaining the confidence to begin homeschooling for themselves," said Somerville.
Scott Somerville, homeschooling father of six, joined HSLDA in 1992. In the last 20 years HSLDA has grown to over 75,000 member families and defended the rights of homeschool families before the courts, state legislatures and Congress while handling thousands of legal conflicts with social workers, truant officers, superintendents, police and prosecutors.
