In higher education, entire departments study history from certain perspectives—history based on gender, ethnicity, or social class. But author Diana Waring has an out-of-this-world starting point for teaching history! Learn more, on today’s Home School Heartbeat with HSLDA President Mike Smith. Mike Smith: Diana Waring: It makes a huge difference, because our creator-redeemer God is faithful, and He’s always working out His plans in the midst of history. Here’s a brief example: at the beginning of the twentieth century, the world was convulsing under wars, under political theories like anarchy, under unrestrained greed and cruelty. To say it was bleak would be an understatement. However, at that very moment, God brought life and hope through tremendous revivals. One of the most stunning was a revival in Korea. It took place just prior to Japan’s hostile occupation of Korea beginning in 1910. Without seeing God’s mercies poured out on the Korean people in a very real way, we miss the significance and true perspective of that moment. God is faithful, even in the darkest moments of history. And our students need to know that.Mike: |
