If your children are grown, baby days may be long past-or just around the corner! Today on Home School Heartbeat, a homeschool mom who has now entered the grandma ranks joins HSLDA President Mike Smith to talk about being a mother at this stage of life.
Mike Smith:
We’re finishing our week before mother’s day by talking to a mom who has reached what some argue is the best stage of all-grandmothering! Sara Glaser homeschooled her four children with her husband, Mark, and now is enjoying her two granddaughters. Sara, welcome to the program!
Sara Glaser:
Thank you Mike! It’s a pleasure to be on Home School Heartbeat with you today!
Mike:
Well thank you! Sara, tell us-in your opinion, what’s the best part of your role now as both a mom and grandmom?
Sara:
Well, Mike, with two younger children still at home I have the best of both worlds: mothering and grandmothering! Having come full circle with our two oldest, the biggest blessing for me is seeing our children establish life priorities based on God’s Word. Both our adult children have chosen godly spouses. I&rsuqo;ve had the joy of watching my own daughter become a mother, giving us a bond of mutual respect.
From my perspective as a grandma, I am reminded that the task of mothering is to prepare our children to train up the next generation to seek after God and serve Him. Watching this unfold as my children start their own families is a testimony of God’s faithfulness, which continues through all generations.
Mike:
Sara, that’s wonderful! Happy mother’s day to you, and to every mom listening this week! And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
