Having a houseful of young children keeps a mom on her toes! But don’t forget to stop and take a good look at your children before this period of life is history. Susan Schmidt joins HSLDA President Mike Smith on today’s Home School Heartbeat with thoughts about having a young family.

Mike Smith:
My guest today, Susan Schmidt, is mom of four children, ages 7 months through 5 years, and wife of one of our own attorneys here at HSLDA. Susan, welcome to the program!

Susan Schmidt:
Thank you! Thanks for having me!

Mike:
Susan, with four young children in your house, what do you find is the best, or the most rewarding part of being mother?

Susan:

Well I think one of the best things for me has been just being able to spend every day with the children, watching them grow and develop and enjoy life. They find so much pleasure in the little things, like going on a picnic or finding a flower growing in the yard. And they want to pick the flower, and bring it to me like it’s a special treasure. And I love seeing their eyes light up whenever they make a discovery, or they learn something new or accomplish something, like reading a book or learning their Bible verse. They’re just so excited about life, and I love that! I also love listening to them pray, they will pray about anything and everything, it’s so sweet.

Mike:
Susan, that’s wonderful! Thanks for joining us today, and happy mother’s day to you! And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
