Leah Garber
Leah Garber was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school and received her B.A. in General Studies with a concentration in math and science through Indiana University’s correspondence degree program. For 10 years she held various positions at Home School Legal Defense Association including the human resources department. Leah served on her church’s missions committee, as director of the junior varsity girls club in the local AWANA (a Bible-based ministry for children and youth), and assisted her mother in the schooling of five younger brothers. Currently she is a missionary to Ghana, West Africa.
Ken and Elena Schuenemeyer
Ken and Elena live in Northern Virginia, where they homeschool three of their four children, ranging in age from 10 to 17. Their oldest son, a homeschool graduate, attends college.
Ken graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in human factors engineering and served in the Air Force for over 20 years. He earned his master’s degree in systems management from the University of Southern California in 1988. Ken continues to support the Air Force, working in the Pentagon as a contractor.
Although a U.S. citizen, Elena grew up in Colombia, South America. She moved to the U.S. after high school graduation and started college in Florida. She has an associate’s degree in early childhood education, and also served in the Air Force for several years. In addition to teaching her own children, Elena is a Spanish tutor at a local homeschool co-op.
