Do you look for prayer to make a difference in your daily life? God delights in providing for His children! Today on Home School Heartbeat, Elizabeth Smith joins her husband, HSLDA President Mike Smith, to discuss how God has answered prayer in her own life.

Mike Smith:
I’m sure that many of our listeners could testify to God’s goodness through prayer. Elizabeth, can you share briefly a story from your own life about how God has used prayer?

Elizabeth Smith:
Well there are so many, it is hard to choose! But I’ll just mention one or two. I prayed for curriculum advice from God. I took in all the council and good advice that I could find from support groups and others, but ultimately I did seek the Lord and ask Him to lead me to the things He wanted me to use.

One of the other things I’ll have to admit today is that I am not a morning person. And so in the morning I would wake up, often early, and I would open my eyes and I would say in my mind, “I just don’t feel like homeschooling today!” So I would ask God to give me zeal; I would ask Him to give me mercy, and I would ask Him to give me grace for that day. That was very special.

And of course, I prayed often for my children. It was a joy to pray for their needs, their cares, their concerns, and even healing. We were fortunate and blessed to have low medical bills during those homeschool years, and I believe it’s really because of all of the prayer that we had.

Mike:
Elizabeth, thank you for sharing your story with our listeners today. I am sure they will be encouraged by your words. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
