Service and compassion—homeschool parents love to see those character traits in their kids. How can prayer help you and your children to grow in those areas? Today on Home School Heartbeat, Elizabeth Smith joins her husband, HSLDA President Mike Smith, to share a suggestion.

Mike Smith:
Elizabeth, thank you for joining us again today. Over the years, you’ve been involved in a very special prayer ministry. Can you suggest some ways homeschool families can show compassion and serve others through prayer?

Elizabeth Smith:
Well, God knew that I was going to need lots of prayer experience during my homeschooling years, and just before we started to homeschool, I fell upon the Breakthrough Intercessory Prayer Ministry, actually located right in Lincoln, Virginia, right near Purcellville here.

Breakthrough is a ministry that brings together people with needs and Christians willing to pray for them. It’s unique—it has nearly 4,000 intercessors around the world. If you go to their website, www.intercessors.org, you can actually file a prayer request within thirty seconds. When you file that request, it will go to six intercessors who will pray for your need for 21 days, after Daniel Chapter 10.

Over the years, I have relied upon the teaching I have gotten from the ministry. I’ve told literally hundreds of other homeschooling moms how they can get help and support for their homeschooling years.

Mike:
Elizabeth, these suggestions could open some exciting opportunities for our listeners! Thank you for joining us today! Until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
