As a homeschool mom or dad, you value time with your kids. How much do you value time with your heavenly father? Today on Home School Heartbeat, Elizabeth Smith joins her husband, HSLDA President Mike Smith, to discuss her own experience as a homeschool mom.

Mike Smith:
With us today is my wife, Elizabeth Smith. We are very happy to have you on the program.

Elizabeth Smith:
Thank you, it’s wonderful to be here. I’m happy to share with your listeners today.

Mike:
Elizabeth, this week, we’re discussing the importance of prayer in a homeschool family. Now why did you consider it important to develop a personal prayer life during the homeschool years?

Elizabeth:
Well, for me, it was a matter of necessity. We were going into homeschooling. We did not know what we were doing. I felt like I needed all the help that I could get. And of course, going to the Lord for that help seemed like the most sensible thing for me.

I would get up in the morning sometimes, in the homeschool years, and I’d wonder, “Am I doing it right? Am I doing it enough? What am I missing?” And I had a sense of insecurity. And so I would pray and ask the Lord to help me choose the things that I should be doing, and also just to give me peace about my homeschooling. He was faithful to do that.

Mike:
Elizabeth, thank you for joining us today and for encouraging our listeners. Next time we’ll talk more on the importance of prayer in the homeschool family. Until then, I’m Mike Smith.
