Seasons of Change

How do you adjust to the winds and waves of life while keeping your homeschooling ministry stable? Life can change, and so can your homeschooling. But the importance of your ministry to your children remains constant. Today on Home School Heartbeat with host Mike Smith, author Jason Soldini shares his family’s experience.

Mike Smith:
Jason, you mention in your book that your family and your homeschooling have gone through “seasons.” How have you adjusted your goals without losing the focus of your overall mission?

Jason Soldini:
Well, when we speak of an overall mission, I believe that mission is to lead our children into a real, intimate, and personal relationship with their Creator and Savior. Our chief aim is to please Him. We have found ourselves in good, simple, and peaceful times but also in difficult, stressful, and overwhelming times. No matter what time our family is experiencing, the relationship with and trust in God remains constant.

Our overall mission to live and teach this relationship with God remains even as we find ourselves in need of adjusting our goals. For example, sometimes adjusting our goals means closing the doors to certain outward ministry. We have had seasons where we have pulled back from doing ministry or other homeschool activities to regain our footing. This is part of the beauty of homeschooling. We have the flexibility to decide our own schedule as we are led by a loving God.

Remember Psalm 37:23 says that the Lord directs the steps of the godly—He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they’ll never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Mike:
Jason, thank you for joining us today to share your story with our listeners. I’m sure many of them have experienced similar times of change. Until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
