Jay and Heidi were married in 1989, shortly before Jay graduated from Multnomah Bible College. Since that time, they have been blessed by becoming parents to six incredible kids, who range in age from 18 to 4. In 2004, after 17 years of pastoring, the St. Johns founded First Class Homeschool Ministries, a parachurch ministry that helps churches reach out to homeschooling families by hosting a homeschool cooperative. First Class provides parents and churches with all the tools they will need to start and maintain a successful homeschool co-op, including a website for each co-op, online database, leadership training, and promotional materials. Since 2000, over 1,000 children and parents have participated in First Class co-ops, which are now in many parts of the United States. Jay and Heidi are favorite speakers and worship leaders at homeschool conferences and other events each year. Together, they place a special emphasis on nurturing marriage throughout the homeschool years.
