Today I’m joined by Marilyn Boyer, author of For You They Signed. Marilyn, this book contains character studies of the signers. What is a character study? And how is your book different from a typical history book?

Marilyn Boyer:
Mike, as I did the research for this book, I was just struck with the character of these men. It stood out and it grabbed my attention. That’s why I decided to use their stories to teach families not only history, but character—the character that drove them to lay it all on the line for our freedom. They had such a strong sense of duty to God and to future generations!

Often when we read a book, we get inspired briefly, but then we forget all about it. So I wanted to find a way to help families learn and retain what they learned. So I wrote this book in such a way that families can learn together history and character and Scripture. I provided questions, which are designed to help them apply character to their own lives.

You know, the signers were just ordinary men who answered the call to duty. But because they did, it changed the course of the entire world! And my goal was to help inspire families to see that God desires to use them in great and mighty ways.
