Mike Smith:
This week I’m joined by Will Estrada, the director of Generation Joshua, a program that encourages Christian teens to become involved in the civic and political arenas. Will, thanks for joining us today!
Will Estrada:
Mike, it’s great to be here!
Mike:
Will, why is this a strategic time for homeschooled young people to be involved in politics and the public sphere?
Will:
In Mike Farris’s book The Joshua Generation—which inspired the founding of Generation Joshua—Mike talked about the vision for this upcoming generation of young people to really build on the foundation laid by their parents.
The first generation of homeschool parents fought hard to re-establish the freedoms of religious liberty and parental rights that are foundational to homeschooling.
This next generation has the opportunity to establish those principles in the public sphere. America was founded by men of faith and firm convictions. Young people today can help America return to her Judeo-Christian foundations by becoming involved in the civic and political arenas. It is imperative for us today to work hard to restore the freedoms and godly principles that have been eroded over time. Evil will indeed triumph if good men do nothing.
And in this age of technology and information, there are more ways than ever for young people to be involved. These young people are the citizens and leaders of tomorrow—but the time to begin training is today.
Mike:
Will, I couldn’t agree with you more. Thanks for bringing that encouragement to our listeners today! And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
