Focusing on the Blessings
Listen Now
Volume 87, Program 35
Airdate: Friday, February 13, 2009
Originally Aired: Friday, May 4, 2007

Please note: Today’s program is a rerun that first aired on May 4, 2007.

Do you ever feel like homeschooling is just too hard? Then stay tuned as Mike Smith interviews one mom about staying focused on the rewards of this challenging task, on today’s Home School Heartbeat.

Mike Smith:
Today, I’d like to again welcome Liz Curry to the program. Liz, the homeschooling journey can at times be discouraging, as you yourself have experienced. How can parents focus on the blessings of this journey?

Liz Curry:
Well, I tell them, “Be encouraged; you're doing God’s will”—because when the Word says “train up a child,” it’s talking about you training up a child. And with that, you know, where God guides, God provides. And there’s joy when you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing.

Mike:
Liz, let me ask you this: what is the greatest joy that you’ve had in homeschooling your children?

Liz:
It was watching them bloom where they’re planted, watching their eyes light up as they’re learning, and that team mentality that we had as a family.

Mike:
Liz, would you do it again, all over?

Liz:
I would do it again, and I’d recommend it to everyone, whether they’re a single parent or not!

Mike:
Liz, I know that your comments this week have truly blessed and encouraged our listeners, so thank you for being with us.

Liz:
Well, thank you for this opportunity. I really appreciate it. I think it’s an honor.

Mike:
We appreciate you. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
