Justice Thomas, what’s been the response from the public to your book?
Justice Thomas:
The people seem to be, it’s this Vietnamese woman in Atlanta said to me, she came up with tears in her eyes as I was signing books, she said “This is my story. This is my story. And what has grabbed people, a truck driver wrote me recently, same thing. A farmer, whether they’re white or black or elderly, whether they’re immigrants or kids of immigrants, it’s the same thing. That this is the American story; it’s all of our stories.
Farris:
Justice Thomas, I want to thank you again for being on our program. The Bible tells the story of Joseph who was falsely accused. Looking back, Joseph said that what man meant for evil, God used it for good. And that’s what I think of when I think of your story, Justice Thomas. Thanks so much for your service to this country.
Justice Thomas:
Well thank you, and thank you for having me on your show and for all you’re doing. Of course as I’ve said before, I love education and I just think that any way to get these kids educated and to give them the character that they need to stand up when there are criticisms or when there are people trying to tug them in the wrong direction is so important. So, I think what you’re doing is critical to the development of a civil society that you have kids who are well educated and have the discipline and inner strength to preserve what we have.
