Sometimes, one uplifting word can keep you going for a long time. Today on Home School Heartbeat with HSLDA President Mike Smith, a veteran homeschool mom imparts some encouragement that helped her keep going.
Mike Smith:
This week, veteran homeschool mom Zan Tyler has been offering encouragement for weary mothers. Zan, if you could pass on one thing that somebody has said that really encouraged you as a homeschooling mom, what would it be?
Zan Tyler:
Mike, I will never forget when we were in the throes of our threats of jail and court cases and legislative debacles here in South Carolina, a woman who had her PhD—Loreen Itterman—in education, met with me. She’s now on the mission field. And she looked at me and she said, “Zan, this is bigger than you are. God is raising an army of children who will love Him and love His word, to engage the culture. You just trust Him.”
And so my biggest advice for parents is, they are partnering with the almighty God! And I think the most significant revival endeavor that this century is going to see—by not only training children academically in a way that is cutting-edge, but in giving children a Biblical and spiritual literacy and power that will allow them to continue strong in their faith, long after they’ve left the home. Our culture needs it, the church needs it, and mom, you keep on keeping on. Because, as Loreen told me, this is bigger than you are.
Mike:
Zan, thanks so much for joining us this week! And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
