The David Parker Story, Part 4: An Ominous Precedent
Volume 84, Program 9
8/14/2008
Listen Now

Dr. David Parker was jailed for his belief that five-year-olds don’t require homosexual indoctrination. Now he’s fighting for his right—and your right—to parental notification. Find out what happens next on today’s Home School Heartbeat with Mike Farris.

Mike Smith:
So, David, what happened after that? Did you decide to give up, or what’d you do?

Dr. David Parker:
Well, what we did is, I had to fight the criminal trespassing. Incidentally, they also slapped a no trespass order on me, where I couldn’t enter the schools for an indefinite period of time. The first order of business was, of course, fighting that criminal trespassing charge, which was subsequently dropped. And then after that, we filed a civil lawsuit in the federal system, essentially over parental rights and the free exercise of religion, and also the right to have family privacy bounds which we don’t want other adults making incursions into.

Mike:
What happened to that suit at the first stage?

Dr. Parker:
At the first stage, it went to the district court and essentially Judge Mark Wolf was the presiding judge, and he said, basically, diversity is a hallmark of this nation and sexual orientation—in other words, homosexuality—is part of that diversity, and the school administrators can teach it to your children any way they want.

Now, your listeners have to understand these are little, impressionable children, and homosexual conduct is being framed in their minds in a certain celebratory way to have them embrace this conduct. And that’s simply unacceptable.

Mike:
Thanks so much. I’m Mike Farris.
