The David Parker Story, Part 2: Tolerance…and Jail Time
Volume 84, Program 7

Dr. David Parker requested that he be notified when his local school promoted the homosexual agenda to his five-year-old son. Then he went to jail. The Parker story continues on today’s Home School Heartbeat with Mike Farris.

Mike Farris:
I’m visiting again with Dr. David Parker about the conflict between the school district and his rights as a parent over the issue of homosexuality in public schools with his kindergarten-aged son. David, you told us that you asked for the right to be heard and to be notified when your child was going to be taught this controversial material, and they to you no. What happened next?

Dr. David Parker
Well, over a course of four months we tried to work with the school administration. You know, teachers and the school administrators always say they want to partner with parents in the public schools. Amazingly, they don’t want a partnership in this area.

After four months of backing us into a corner and making us very concerned about what is essentially indoctrinating little children, we were in a meeting, my wife and I, April 27th, 2005 and they said again “This is a civil rights issue; we’re going to do this, and we’re not going to notify you.”

And you know, at that point, mentally, I wouldn’t and I couldn’t leave that meeting until we got some form of accommodation, and I told them that. To make a long story short, they ended up calling the Lexington police, having me arrested, handcuffed, and taken to jail.

Mike:
I once defended a lady who had the same thing happen to her in Tennessee, when they’re simply asking for the right of parents to give your kids an alternative to public school indoctrination. I’m Mike Farris.
