Colleges are founded for a purpose, and Patrick Henry College is no exception. The legacy of this teen homeschooler lives on, continuing to shape the next generation of freedom-loving homeschool students. Mike Smith talks about Henry’s enduring legacy on today’s Home School Heartbeat. Mike Smith: In the mid-1990s, as homeschool students began to reach college age in large numbers, we frequently heard the question, “What next? How can homeschoolers continue their biblically based education?” Patrick Henry College was officially opened in the year 2000. Although the college has been known as the “homeschool” college, Patrick Henry College is open to all students, public or private, who seek a high-quality classical education. The average SAT score of the most recent freshman class is 1313. This is a remarkable achievement for a college which has only been open since 2000. Patrick Henry College has surpassed a majority of American colleges in the quality of its students and is poised to compete with Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. God has richly blessed Patrick Henry College, and we pray that he continues to do so as the college is used to train a new generation of Christian leaders who love the Lord and who love liberty. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith. |
