This week on Home School Heartbeat, I’ve been discussing the life of one of our nation’s greatest leaders—Patrick Henry. So profound was his impact on our nation’s founding and freedom that when we perceived a need for a college specifically designed to meet the needs of homeschoolers, we chose to name it in honor of Patrick Henry.

In the mid-1990s, as homeschool students began to reach college age in large numbers, we frequently heard the question, “What next? How can homeschoolers continue their biblically based education?”

Patrick Henry College was officially opened in the year 2000.

Although the college has been known as the “homeschool” college, Patrick Henry College is open to all students, public or private, who seek a high-quality classical education.

The average SAT score of the most recent freshman class is 1313. This is a remarkable achievement for a college which has only been open since 2000.

Patrick Henry College has surpassed a majority of American colleges in the quality of its students and is poised to compete with Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

God has richly blessed Patrick Henry College, and we pray that he continues to do so as the college is used to train a new generation of Christian leaders who love the Lord and who love liberty.
