How does homeschooling allow parents to prepare their children for missions? Today on Home School Heartbeat, Mike Farris talks with Christian Feavel about a few ways homeschooling prepared her for international ministry.

Mike Farris:
My guest today is Christian Feavel. She is a homeschool graduate who is now the director of an orphan relief ministry called Romania Reborn that my daughter Jayme started in 1997. Christian, thank you so much for being on our program.

Christian:
Glad to be here.

Mike:
Can you share some of thoughts on what prepared you for ministering to orphans in another country?

Christian:
I would have to say my greatest preparation came from my mother’s example, both her words and her actions. When she would teach us at home, her instruction was always really focused on Christ, and his word, and his desire to use each of us to minister to others. And then she really lived what she taught by giving to missions, and she was very personally involved in reaching people in our community. My first trip to Romania was actually with my mother and I just learned so much from watching her as she shared the love of Christ with the hurting orphans that we met. I’ve been privileged, also, to be involved in and learn from other ministry experiences both here in the states and overseas. Now as the director of Romania Reborn, the Lord still is continuing to challenge me to grow and learn as I share the needs of Romanian orphans. But my mother’s godly example it still the instruction that I cherish the most.

Mike:
Christian, thank you so much for sharing and for your work with Romania Reborn. I’m Mike Farris.
