From music, to theater, to movie-making, homeschoolers have the freedom to create art for God’s glory. Today on Home School Heartbeat with Michael Farris, we’ll hear from Kerry Wall on how one movie project became a family effort.

Mike Farris:
Kerry, yesterday we talked about how you were able to homeschool your children during the filming of the movie Noëlle, and how you and your husband worked together to accomplish that. How can homeschooling families who feel called to movie-making become actively involved in the film industry?

Kerry Wall:
I wouldn’t recommend wasting time criticizing what is out there. I think we need to get on our knees and beg the Creator for the stories that he wants to get out to the world. He’s the giver of the stories and beg him for the means to get them out. My husband David wrote the script for Noëlle seven years ago and we didn’t have the means to produce it at that time. But God slowly, step by step, provided investors, locations, actors. We had a 50-year record snowfall that gave us all the snow we needed when it came time to shoot. And I think, most of all, prayer and fearlessness are required. Fear not, nothing is impossible with God who’s been sustaining us through these ups and downs of trying to get Noëlle out to the world. And I think homeschool families have one of the most important keys to the film industry in their hands, the time to focus on their calling and the freedom to follow the path that God sets out for you. If you’re called to the film industry, a path that may not be considered standard by anyone’s definition and who are we to complain? If we don’t offer anything better and aren’t willing to change our lives to accomplish our mission that God has put on our hearts.

Mike:
Kerry, thank you so much for sharing and for sharing your lives with all of us in the movie Noëlle. I’m Mike Farris.
