Mike Farris:
Today we’re talking with Dr. Graham Walker who’s the president of Patrick Henry College and we’re discussing the Patrick Henry College Institute that has programs for the general public in a variety of studies throughout the country. Dr. Walker, you described yesterday a variety of the programs and I’d like to hear a little more about those and how do they fit together?
Dr. Graham Walker:
Well, as I said before, you gave us a really interesting presentation in person which reflects that in your recent book giving us the roots of America’s commitment to religious liberty and basically simple Bible Christianity. What I noticed was that there’s a link between that thought and what’s happening in America today. If it’s really true, as you suggest, that it’s commitment to Jesus in a simple form of Bible faith that supports public belief in religious liberty for everybody, then it would seem to follow that if commitment to Christ and the general public starts fading away the religious liberty for everybody might be in peril. And I see looking at what Dr. Veith told us recently about the role of the arts in undermining faith in Christ and some of the things I presented about the role of higher education in undermining that faith. I see, I’m not surprised, when David Aikman shows us how the new brand of aggressive atheists are seeking to impose their own restrictions on religious liberty in the name of atheism. There’s kind of a linkage that those three things bring together.
