Mike Farris:
Congressman Tancredo, religious freedom is increasingly under attack in America. How would you plan to respond to this as president?
Congressman Tancredo:
It is through the bureaucracy that I think most of these attacks originate. It’s over-zealous administrators, it’s somebody who believes that a regulation can be interpreted in such a way as to restrict someone’s ability to practice their own faith and religion. It would be up to the President of the United States to make sure that the people that work for him, in that huge administration, understand what the Founders were talking about in terms of freedom of religion, and ensure that its continued success in this country be a model for the world. I worry, I must tell you, about this peculiar situation that the United States may be placed in. There are religious organizations that are dedicated to our demise. That’s a peculiar dilemma that we have to face. You can use religious freedoms in the United States to take away religious freedom. Radical Islam would do that. This is I think, quite concerning, and I think something that we have to consider when we talk about the whole issue of religious freedom. We have to figure out a way to make sure that we don’t restrict religious liberty while at the same time protect the whole concept of the nation and the constitution.
Mike:
Thank you for being with us, I’m Mike Farris.
