Mike Farris:
Congressman Tancredo, how do you plan to protect the sanctity of marriage?
Congressman Tancredo:
Well, I supported the amendment that would prevent homosexual marriage. The federal government has relatively few options available to it, after a court in any state allows for that particular kind of thing, because of the reciprocity clause. I think the state has no place in, or concern about who you happen to care about. But it does have an absolutely vested interest in the maintenance of the family. The healthiest family structure is one of a man, a woman, the children then the progeny. That, I think, the state does have an interest in maintaining. I was supporting the effort to make sure that homosexual marriage was not sanctioned by the state.
Mike:
Thank you so much, Congressman Tancredo. I’m Mike Farris.
