Does your family practice hospitality? Author and speaker Nancy Campbell explains why extending hospitality is so important, on today’s Home School Heartbeat with HSLDA President Mike Smith.

Mike Smith:
Nancy, earlier this week you shared practical tips on preparing and planning family meals. What about hospitality? Why is showing hospitality important for homeschool families?

Nancy Campbell:
I believe that hospitality is an important subject in our homeschooling curriculum. Why? Because it’s biblical. It’s a biblical doctrine that starts in Genesis and weaves its way through the pages of the Bible right up to Revelation. Hospitality is an extension of our mothering and homemaking ministry. It’s the lifestyle of the kingdom of God which we need to teach our children. We can teach the scholastic subjects, but if they grow up not knowing how to share their lives and how to share their home with others, we haven’t taught them how to live God’s kingdom ways. God’s language is, “Come come unto me all ye that labor,” [Matthew 11:28] “Come and buy wine and milk without money,” [Isaiah 55:1] and so on. And it’s such an education for them.

Mike:
Well, Nancy, that’s great advice, and we thank you for that. Until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
