Mike Farris:
My guest today on Home School Heartbeat is Sharon Cordner who, along with her husband Mike, leads the Pillar Foundation program in St. Louis, Missouri. Sharon, I understand that you teach a variety of courses there, languages at times, but I’d like you to tell us a story about a course that you taught when you were teaching Christian worldviews and what happened with a young lady there.
Sharon Cordner:
Well, I was teaching intro to worldviews that year, and at orientation the mother of one of my students approached me and said that she had enrolled her daughter in my class but that her daughter did not want to be there, did not want to go, and had just been removed from public school so she was not happy about the whole thing. So I was on the alert, and when she came to class, I just kept my eye out. But she took an interest in what truth was, and for the first time in her life, she was hearing about truth and what God had planned for us, and her whole heart turned around. She completely changed. When she first came into class, she was dressing as if she was a motorcycle rider. She came in leather jackets and safety pins all over her clothes, and she completely turned around.
Mike:
Sharon, that’s a powerful example of what Jesus said, “You’ll know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). False thinking. What a wonderful story, I’m Mike Farris.
