Along the journey of motherhood, there are times when every mom may feel discouraged and wonder if the work she does is even noticed. This week on Home School Heartbeat, join Mike Smith as he shares encouragement for moms.

Mike Smith:
Mother’s Day—every year we set aside this special day to celebrate our mothers and their role in our lives. Without a doubt, motherhood is one of the hardest jobs on earth, yet it is often treated as the least important vocation.

There’s a story about a mom who was asked to state her occupation for local town records. Frustrated with the response she typically received when she said “I’m a mom,” she told the records keeper that she was “a Research Associate in the Field of Child Development and Human Relations” and that of all the professions in the field of humanities, hers was the most demanding.

How many times have you found yourself in a similar situation? Whether you’re filling out a survey, attending a social function, or just engaging in conversation, you’ll probably find that your work is perceived as second-rate or somehow less important than others.

This week on Home School Heartbeat, we want to celebrate you—the moms and moms-to-be who make it possible for so many others to succeed in life. Whatever society may say, motherhood is one of the most important callings in the world. We want to help you see your work for what it truly is—life changing and absolutely essential. We hope you will be encouraged to press forward with the high calling God has given mothers.

And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
