The Solution to Our Nation’s Problems
Volume 74, Program 7

How can prayer turn our nation around? Today on Home School Heartbeat, Michael Farris interviews National Day of Prayer Task Force Chairman Shirley Dobson about the answer to that question.

Michael Farris:
Shirley, as Christians, it’s easy to wring our hands over the direction that our nation is headed. We worry about our families, our communities, and the decline of traditional values. But what do we do about these concerns? How does prayer offer a solution?

Shirley Dobson:
Well, you’re right, Mike, to be concerned. Jim just returned from Washington, D.C., and he believes—and many of our friends in Washington told him—that we’re in greater peril as a nation than at any time since the Civil War. The danger from radical Islam, North Korea, China, and Russia really threatens our national sovereignty and our freedom. And he said no one there, absolutely no one, has an answer. But we know that God has the solution, and that prayer is the hope for America. And it’s really time for us as a nation and as God’s people to be on our knees before the Lord, asking Him for His wisdom and protection for this country. In Psalms it says “the shields of the earth belong to the Lord” (Psalm 47:9). So we need to be putting a prayer shield around this nation, not only on the first Thursday of May, but every day.

Mike:
Well spoken, Shirley. Thank you so much. We’ll be back tomorrow with Shirley Dobson, more on prayer.
