The grace of God brings success even when our human weakness suggests failure. That’s the topic of Michael Farris’s interview with his wife, Vickie, today on Home School Heartbeat.
Michael Farris:
Yesterday, Vickie, I talked about the experience I’ve had at least 50 times where a woman would come up to me after I’ve spoken at a homeschool conference and say, “Mike, I liked your talk but I really want to hear from your wife, Vickie.” What was the idea that you wanted to share with moms that led you to write this book?
Vickie Farris:
Well, I knew that I was very much like the moms that I would be writing to. I still have daily struggles myself with homeschooling and I often feel overwhelmed and I know I don’t have all the answers, but we’ve been homeschooling now for 18 years and we have three grown daughters who are walking with the Lord. They have godly young men as mates, they are beginning to raise their own families, and we have a great relationship with them. We really have seen a lot of success so far in our homeschooling and so what I realized I had to share was that you don’t really have to be a super mom to have success with this—you just need a super God, and we all have that.

How did a busy mom with 10 kids have the time to write a book? She didn’t. Vickie Farris’ daughter, Jayme, wrote it with her. In a warm, practical style, Farris gives homeschooling moms encouragement for those days when the challenge seems overwhelming, and shares her insights gleaned from years of experience. Hey Mom, you can do it!
