Does the lukewarm church that Jesus described in Revelation sound familiar? Then tune in as Michael Farris talks with Zan Tyler about rejecting lukewarm relationships, today on Home School Heartbeat.

Michael Farris:
Zan, it’s hard to believe, but between you and your husband, Joe, and my wife, Vickie, and I, we all together have way more than 50 years of marriage experience. Can you share with us something that has really helped you and Joe maintain a close relationship over the years?

Zan Tyler:
You know, Mike, I think the main thing is attitude. I think we can go back again to Christ’s words in Revelation and He said, “But I have this against you, that you have left your first love” (New American Standard Bible). And I think oftentimes in our marriage relationships, especially when we’re homeschooling, we lose our first love, whether it’s by focusing on our children, focusing on career, or just all the daily grind.

And so I think the first thing that we have to do is make sure that we do the things that made our love rich to begin with.

Other things we do is we make sure we have time to talk a lot together. We talk a lot during the course of the day. We make sure that we’re always working from the same script and that we’re on the same page together, and we try to resolve our conflict quickly—at least before we go to bed that night.

Mike:
Zan, the work you've just described is worth it when we can look at our relationships without any regrets. God bless you and your family, and give my best to Joe. I’m Mike Farris.
