How does homeschooling prepare young adults to embark on college and a career? A mom shares her story, on today's Home School Heartbeat with Mike Smith.

    Mike Smith:
Carol Jackson, who's with me today, homeschooled her four daughters through high school. Carol, many moms and dads who are considering homeschooling through high school wonder if their children will be able to attend college after graduating. What has been your experience?

    Carol Jackson:
Our four daughters had no trouble adjusting to college. Each of them actually took the high school proficiency exam and three of our girls began their college experience at a local junior college, which actually was an excellent place for them to begin their college experience. The exception was Jennifer-she entered directly into a state university because of her need for musical training as a piano performance major. She's currently the Bible study director for the Christian Performing Artists' Fellowship (this is a missions group for performing artists), and she continues to perform as well.

Jessica loves her job as a nurse in a cardiac intensive care unit in a large city hospital, and she's an excellent nurse. Katie graduated from PHC with a government major and she's currently working in DC, which she thoroughly enjoys. Carrie, our youngest, was pursuing a nursing degree, planning to go into missions work, when she met her husband-so now she is on another mission with him!

All four girls actually did excel in college, both academically and socially, and each is currently pursuing a career that they truly enjoy.

    Mike:
Thank you so much for joining us, Carol. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith.
