Have you thought about homeschooling your high schooler? Wondering if you can do it? On today's Home School Heartbeat, one mom shares her experience with host Mike Smith.

    Mike Smith:
This week, we're talking with Diane Kummer, one of HSLDA's high school coordinators. Diane, you homeschooled your two children from kindergarten through 12th grade. When they reached high school, did you worry about having the expertise to continue homeschooling them?

    Diane Kummer:
Mike, I sure did worry about that, and I know that the majority of homeschooling moms I hear from are worried about whether or not they can teach high school. You know, one type of worry paralyzes us, but the other type of worry drives us to our knees to seek the Lord's help in our homeschooling.

The Lord provided just what I needed to homeschool my children through high school. And he'll do the same for other homeschool moms. The time I had with my own two children at probably the most crucial period of their lives, as they were developing into a young man and a young lady, I wouldn't trade for anything. With the Lord's help, you can teach high school.

There are many options available to families who choose to homeschool through high school. If you decide to tackle world history, then grab the book (buy the teacher's edition if you need one) and learn it right along with your child. Be an example of someone who's excited and enthusiastic about learning. In another subject, like algebra, you may want to enlist the help of a friend or relative to teach your child. With video and DVD courses, online courses, and distance learning programs, many avenues of help are available.

    Mike:
