On this week's Home School Heartbeat, host Mike Smith and his guest have been unveiling a new program to help families begin homeschooling. Today, learn how you can become involved.

This week, we've been talking with Bruce Shortt about how we can encourage new families to homeschool. Bruce, why is the mission of Homeschooling Family to Family so important?

Bruce Shortt:
Mike, there are four important reasons for becoming a "Homeschooling Family to Family" homeschool evangelist.

First, helping a family get started in homeschooling rescues children from the government schools.

Second, it's a great way to share the gospel or help disciple new Christians.

Third, when we grow homeschooling, we are promoting revival and families, churches, and our community.

And finally—if you don't care about anything else—every homeschooler, Christian or otherwise, needs to understand that we are always just one election away from disaster. The public school monopoly would like to regulate homeschooling out of existence. And it's only by increased numbers that we'll be able to protect homeschooling. We want Homeschooling Family To Family to double and triple the size of our state and local homeschool organizations. They are our first line of defense and we need to support and grow all of our homeschooling organizations.
