If you're looking for a more packaged learning experience, rather than putting together your own educational plan, the Internet can help you there. Today on Home School Heartbeat, Mike Smith tells you how.

    Mike Smith:
The Internet has many cyber-schools and online classes to help you teach your children. With so much available for the average homeschoolers, where do you begin weeding out the good from the bad?

If you have friends using online schools and classes, ask them what they like and dislike about their programs. It can be helpful to know what problems they have dealt with and how fast they can get questions answered from someone at the school. If you don't find what you're looking for right away, be sure to check back periodically. The Internet is constantly changing, and new services pop up all the time.

Online classes are especially helpful in the high school years. Many parents need help with the more difficult subjects that are readily available online. Many websites give out free homework to help struggling students as well.

If you have a student interested in going to college, you'll find that he can start early by taking college classes online. More and more colleges are offering Internet distance learning programs that homeschoolers can take advantage of.

Whether or not your student goes on to complete his degree via cyber-school or simply takes a course or two, the Internet provides many options at the high school and college levels.

And until next time, I'm Mike Smith.
